High school senior photography makes my heart sing.

As I was taking this photo at Reese’s High School Senior Photo Session,

her mama who was standing next to me, was holding back tears.

This was her baby, now grown, getting her senior photos, celebrating the transition into her new life.

Seeing her wrapped up in this cozy blanket, with her big blue eyes peering out,

reminded her mama of when she was just a baby wrapped up,

not so long ago, with those same big blue eyes peering out at her.

I knew, as I was shooting this, that this shot wasn’t a typical senior pose,

but I love to try different looks and use my intuition as we co-create the custom images.

As I saw her mom’s reaction, getting teary eyed, I know this shot was a favorite already.

I love working with high school seniors. I feel like I am involved in one of the most exciting times in a person’s life.

This is when a person is on the brink of something totally new in their life.

I get to witness and celebrate the transformation of emergence.

Emergence from a caterpillar into a butterfly about ready to take flight into a new part of life.

A new chapter.

For me, its such an honor to be a part of that, and I have such a fun time interviewing each senior,

chatting with them and their parents, getting to know their story, and what they want their future story to be.

I want to photograph more and more high school seniors and teens!

It makes my heart happy to be a part of this amazing time.

I am really excited.

Its going to be a small, easy to read book for busy moms.

It was my goal to make it as short and sweet and as non-tech as possible,

and small in size so you can toss it in your purse, diaper bag or even carry in your pocket!

I think it will make a great gift for new mom’s as well!
